    Germaine Washington, LSAT Tutor

    Hi, I'm Germaine Washington.

When I was studying for the LSAT, I fell into the trap that so many students do: trying to juggle dozens of disconnected strategies. My breakthrough came when I shifted focus, moving away from memorization and toward understanding how arguments actually work.

That experience shapes how I teach. I break the test into the reasoning tasks each question requires, identify the steps that make those tasks manageable, and practice applying them. The goal is for you to understand why an approach works and know what to do when a question gives you trouble.

How I Turn Review into Progress

First, we find where your process breaks down. Then we build and practice the steps that address it.

    1. Understand the issue

We compare your timed work with blind review to see what you understand, where your reasoning changes, and what is costing you points.

    2. Build a usable approach

I explain the relevant reasoning and help you turn each recurring issue into specific steps you can use on the next question.

    3. Practice and adjust

You apply those steps, check the results, and develop the timing, confidence, and backup methods you need for the test.

What happens on the free coaching call?

The 30-minute call is a conversation about your preparation so far. We look at what you have been using, how you review your work, and where your progress has slowed, and I tell you what I would change first. If there are questions that have given you trouble, you can bring them and we will work through one or two together. You should leave with a clearer idea of your next steps, and we can decide together whether tutoring would help you carry them out. The booking form asks a few questions about your test date and what you have tried, so we can spend the call on your work.

    How are tutoring sessions conducted?

Sessions are conducted online via Google Meet, with screen sharing and collaborative work built into the session. We use official digital LSAT materials and a shared online whiteboard so we can slow down your reasoning, annotate the problem in real time, and make the underlying decision process visible rather than simply reviewing whether an answer was right or wrong.

How long does it typically take to see improvement?

My approach targets either the easiest wins or the most challenging areas early so the first sessions produce information you can use immediately. Some students notice a change in accuracy, pacing, or confidence quickly; deeper score growth comes from repeating the corrected process until it becomes reliable under timed conditions. Individual results vary, but the goal is always to turn every session into a specific change in how you practice afterward.

What materials do I need to purchase?

You will need a LawHub Advantage subscription from LSAC.org, which gives you access to official LSAT PrepTests. The tutoring program supplies the additional custom worksheets, strategy guides, explanation resources, and specialized materials we use together, so you are not expected to assemble a separate stack of prep products.

How does your approach differ from other tutors?

My core interest is argumentation: how sound arguments are built, how flawed arguments break, and how the LSAT repeatedly tests those relationships. I teach those underlying reasoning skills first and then connect them to individual question types. The goal is not to memorize dozens of disconnected tricks; it is to build a smaller set of reasoning tools that transfer across Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.

What if I need to reschedule a session?

I understand that schedules change. I request at least 24 hours' notice for rescheduling. Sessions can generally be moved without issue with sufficient notice, and I am usually flexible with an occasional last-minute cancellation when I have at least two hours' notice. Repeated short-notice changes may lead to firmer enforcement of the 24-hour rule or forfeiture of missed time.

    Can you accommodate my schedule?

With advance notice, I can accommodate almost any tutoring time. The calendar on this page shows the times currently open for a free consultation.

What if I'm not a “logic person”?

You do not need a formal logic background. The point of the system is to make the reasoning visible and repeatable: identify the conclusion, understand the support, translate the relationship into plain language, and then apply the right tool. Students who initially feel that the LSAT is opaque often improve once they stop treating each question as a new puzzle and start recognizing the same underlying reasoning structures.
